Regional Child Protection Project manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

 To ensure children harmed or at risk of being harmed are identified and receive individual case management support by ensuring standard tools and procedures are in place and adhered to

 Training of Child Protection staff in areas including Psychosocial Support, Case Management, Parenting Skills, Referrals, and Child Safeguarding

 Develop/contextualize program tools and processes

 Conduct program monitoring with a view to support oversight of quality

 Deliver training sessions on child protection topics and programs

 Integrate technical capacity sharing approaches into partnerships

 To plan and ensure the strategic building of the Child Protection sector and the implementation of daily field activities in relation to case management and focused adolescent and caregiver programming

 To provide technical guidance to the Child Protection team in coordination with the Child Protection Coordinator

 To coordinate with other child protection agencies on case management and referrals

 Develop and maintain effective working relationships with implementing partners

 Advocate with peer agencies, government and other stakeholders to promote timely and quality case management responses for children

 Develop capacity-building plans for the project staff, Government Institutions, and local CSOs ensuring the gradual handover of responsibilities, and supporting the development of these plans for Child Protection staff in the field

 Provide day-to-day coaching on technical and program management skills to the Technical Coordinator, and support the dissemination of capacity building to senior Child Protection field personnel

 Ensures that minimum standards are maintained in accordance with the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, the Inter-Agency Case Management Guidelines, the Sphere Charter, and the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies Minimum Standards

 Ensure proper and effective use of project resources, ensuring that all resources/assets in the project are managed in line with ODA and Donor policy

 Ensure that the local partners and CSOs have work plans in place and follow up with them regularly to ensure that activities are on track

 Manage project budget, including phased budgets, monthly budget forecasting, and quarterly budget revisions for the project

 Monitor project progress against both programmatic and budgetary targets, adjusting project design as necessary

 Prepare timely and high-quality project and donor reports on project activities

 Provide technical guidance, in all areas of Child Protection and child rights promotion programming, ensuring that implementation methods are consistent with acknowledged good practices and achieve sustainable results

 Ensure the project is implemented in ways responsive to communities, partners, and children in line with Save the Children’s principles, values, and strategic plan and compliant with the European Union and Save the Children’s procedures

 Provide technical guidance, in all areas of Child Protection and child rights promotion programming, ensuring that implementation methods are consistent with acknowledged good practices and achieve sustainable results

 Works closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning team (MEAL) to ensure the effective monitoring and evaluation of programmes.

 Provides overall leadership and management in creating short and long-range operational plans, which will lead to successful project implementation.

 Ensures that project staff effectively plan and deliver activities according to the overall project implementation plan including detailed annual activity and budget management, quarterly work, budget, and procurement projections, which will be accompanied by appropriate cash flow needs analysis

 Develop and maintain effective and efficient oversight, support, quality control and reporting systems and processes

 Manage staff that report into monitoring and evaluation systems in order to ensure data quality and timeliness in reporting

 Monitor and consolidate information collected from weekly and staff activity reports

 Ensure high-quality programming according to international minimum standards and best practices

Job Requirements:

 PhD, MA/MSC, BA/BSC in Psychology, Social workers, Gender and Child protection, Population Study, and Other child protection related fields

 Year of Experience 6 year Phd, 8 year MA and 10 year BA

 Strong oral and written communication skills with Afaan Oromo, English and Amharic

 Computer application skills and the ability to analyze and compile technical and statistical data are required in align with MIS and other relevant data base system

 The ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively with government officials, citizens, and community organizations is required

 A knowledge of environmental assessment practices is preferred.

 Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills

 The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams

 Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programs

 Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures

 Sufficient seniority and credibility to advise project teams on their projects in relation to the program

 The ability to find ways of solving or anticipating problems

 Ability to manage multiple work assignments and meet tight deadlines

 Possesses analytical sound problem-solving skill
