
Job Summary:
FIT is seeking three highly experienced and dedicated individuals to fill the position of Senior Supply Chain Expert for the Last Mile Activity project with funding of USAID until the end of 2024. The successful candidates will play a key role in overseeing and optimizing the health commodity distribution systems at each designated EPSS hub, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of critical commodities to support public health initiatives. The senior SC expert would work closely with the junior SC officer and directly reports to the hub coordinator.
Job Responsibilities:
Health Commodity Distribution: Oversee the distribution of health commodities, including vaccines and pharmaceuticals, to select health facilities within the designated hub area, ensuring timely and efficient delivery in accordance with project guidelines and quality standards.
System Strengthening: Work closely with Zonal and Woreda Health Office and EPSS staff to strengthen the existing distribution systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the distribution process.
Operations: Supervise the collection of RRFs and VRFs and order processing
Communications: develop a communication platform like telegram group with the health facilities
Capacity Building: Provide training and mentorship to local staff involved in health commodity distribution, supporting their professional development and enhancing their capabilities in managing complex distribution operations effectively.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with EPSS, Zonal and Woreda health authorities, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of distribution activities with public health objectives and project requirements.
Reporting and Compliance: Prepare regular reports on distribution performance, inventory levels, and quality assurance metrics, ensuring compliance with project guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Implement monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the impact of distribution activities, identify challenges, and recommend solutions for continuous improvement.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in pharmacy with five years of experience on the field,
Extensive experience in health commodity distribution, particularly in the context of public health initiatives and humanitarian logistics,
Proven track record of successfully managing complex distribution operations, preferably in partnership with public sector stakeholders and international organizations,
Strong understanding of USAID project implementation requirements and familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards in the context of health commodity distribution,
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills,
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong leadership and problem-solving abilities,
IPLS training is mandatory.
