
Job Summary:
Youth Economic Empowerment Officer is responsible for working within the program staffs to successfully implement the organizations and the project’s objectives in the areas of the project planning, organizing, executing and reporting of economic strengthening and livelihood improvement interventions under IYA. She /he is exclusively responsible for leading the design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of the projects’ economic empowerment activities of the project to improve the livelihoods of the target youth beneficiaries through financial, in kind and other technical and mentorship support provision
Job requirements:
MA/BA degree in Business Management, Accounting, Development Studies, Cooperative Management, Economics, Agri Business and other related fields.
Minimum of 3 years prior work experience and demonstrated practical skills in working with youth owned and led enterprises, women self-help groups, small and micro enterprise development, financial service providers, one stop centers and job matching service providers.
Competency Requirements:
USAID projects experience implementation in the area of youth and economic strengthening field is a plus.
Certifications, training courses on saving skills, business development and SACCO
Strong commitment to working with youths
Experience in youth mobilization, training and small and micro enterprise development
Experience in business mentoring and coaching and business plan development
Experience of organizing and working with saving and credit cooperatives
Excellent partnership building, communication and management skills to work with youth owned enterprises, private sector, government institutions, NGOs, etc.
Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
Excellent analytical and report writing skills and ability to solve problems
Proficiency in computer software application, report preparation and data management
Proficiency in English and other local language, written and spoken. Writing and speaking skills of additional local languages is a plus.
Duty station: Dire Dawa with frequent travel to Harar and Jigiga
